About the Conference

The concept of social business has been initiated and promoted by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and the 7th Annual Social Business Conference to be organized by Yunus Centre which intends to assemble practitioners, scholars, and students from around the world to discuss the issues in social business. The 7th Social Business Academia Conference will be held in November, 2018. The details of the principles of social business developed by Professor Yunus are available HERE.

The conference is devoted to the ongoing development of theory and research on social business and its impact on societies around the world. The aim of the Academic Conference is to bring together scholars in social business to discuss emerging concepts and themes in social business research. Conceptual papers, research papers quantitative or qualitative, case studies and practitioner contributions are welcome.

General Subjects for Conference Papers
The conference intends to be interdisciplinary and welcomes contributions from anyone whohas a perspective on the concept of social business. Papers are welcome on any topics related tothe concept of social business and suggested themes for papers include:
  1. Poverty, slowing down or reversing the process of concentration of wealth, unemployment of youth.
  2. Promoting sustainable development including climate change, health improvement, and environmental sustainability.
  3. Achieving UN SDGs through the application of the social business methodology.
  4. Affordable healthcare for bottom-most people.
  5. Application of technologies in achieving qualitative changes in the lives of the unreached people.
  6. Identifies this differences and similarities among the concepts of social business, social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, social economy, social impact investment, corporate social responsibility, etc.
  7. Issues related to the financing of social businesses (potentials and limitations of various financing options, like bonds, venture capital, crowdfunding, philanthropic capital, etc.).
  8. Various examples of the application of the social business concept.
  9. Research and teaching methodologies of social business.
  10. Measurement of social impacts of social businesses.
  11. Emerging management methodologies for managing social businesses.
  12. The relationship among social business, foundations, NGOs, government agencies, CSR, investment funds.
  13. Social businesses in developed countries.
  14. Theoretical basis and practical experiences of establishing and operating social business funds.

Submission Details
There will be a peer-review process to select papers for the presentation at the conference. Oncepapers have been selected authors will be notified about the specific sessions in the conferencewhere it will be presented. At least one of the authors would have to register and be present at theconference for the paper to be published in the proceedings. If no author is available to presentthe paper, the paper will be withdrawn from the presentation list.
