Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from Yunus Centre!

We wanted to update you on the status of the 11th Social Business Academia Conference that was originally scheduled for 11th November 2023 in Berlin.

Due to some previously unforeseen circumstances, it has become necessary for us to postpone the conference to a later date, which will be sometime next year. We understand the importance of this event and its impact on the social business community, and we want to ensure that we can host it effectively.

While we regret any inconvenience this may cause, we are committed to delivering a conference that lives up to our standards of excellence. In the coming months, we will be announcing the new dates and location for the conference.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Yunus Centre at ysbc@yunuscentre.org. We are here to assist you and provide any information you may need.

We will keep you updated as we make progress in rescheduling the conference, and we look forward to your continued support and participation in this important event.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you at the rescheduled Social Business Academia Conference next year.

Warm regards,

CALL FOR PAPERS

11th  Social Business Academia Conference 2023

November, 2023

Social business is about re-organising the world not only for a more prosperous future but also a more dignified survival. SBAC is about supporting these aims through social business research and teaching. The need for such alternatives has never been greater. Within this century, the future of humans on this planet looks very dark indeed, unless some drastic actions are taken in the immediate years. After a potentially short period of time, the planet will enter the ‘red zone’, where the ongoing process of worsening will become irreversible. All actions to reverse the process will have no impact whatsoever. Within the little time we have, only extraordinarily bold and immediate actions can save humans and other life forms from disaster. Social Business has a role to play in this.

General Subjects for Conference Papers:

Also, when using the term ‘social business’, submissions should focus on Professor Muhammad Yunus’ definitions of such: Non-dividend company to solve human problems. The seven principles of social business are as follows:

(2) Financial and economic sustainability. (3) Investors get back their investment amount only; no dividend is given beyond investment money. (4) When investment amount is paid back, company profit stays with the company for expansion and improvement. (5) Gender sensitive and environmentally conscious. (6) Workforce gets market wage with better working conditions. (7) Do it with joy.

This provides wide scope for themes of papers, which, in the past, have covered
