Professor Yunus Inspires Indian Youth

Top Indian business houses met Professor Muhammad Yunus today February 8, 2016 at Mumbai, India at a daylong conference to expand social business in India to tackle pressing social problems. Some of the leading corporations, including Tata Companies, Boston Consulting Group, Mahindra, YES Bank, JP Morgan, Google joined the session to form an action forum what will ideate and implement an action plan for expanding social business. The action plan will aim to facilitate social business initiatives by respective corporate houses what will usher the era of corporate social business in India, as deemed by the participants.
The session was facilitated by Yunus Social Business, India. Participants were keen to use the experience of Professor Muhammad Yunus while expanding the social businesses in India. Professor Yunus appreciated the willingness of the leading corporations of India to utilize their mandatory CSR budget to create social business in solving social problems in a sustainable manner.
Mrs Pankaja Munde, minister of social welfare, poverty alleviation and women affairs also participated in the conference. She informed Professor Yunus that she would come to Bangladesh to visit social businesses created by him.
When arrived in Mumbai, Professor Muhammad Yunus was welcomed by Mr . Deepak Vasant Kesarkar, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra's minister of state for Finance, Rural Development. The minister also organised a meeting with high officials of the ministry to discuss various programmes of the ministry with Professor Yunus. After the meeting the minister hosted a dinner in honour of Professor Yunus.
Earlier on February 6-7, 2016, Professor Muhammad Yunus participated the annual ‘Development Dialogues’, hosted by the Despande Foundation in Hubbali, Karnataka, India. Nobel Laureate Professor Yunus was invited as a keynote speaker to address an audience of more than 5000 participants.
Professor Yunus joined stage with famous indian entrepreneurs like, Mr “Desh” Desphande, Founder of Desphande Foundation and Infosys, Narayana Murthi, Co-Founder of Infosys, Dr.Anoushesh Ansari, Iranian astronaut and Co-Founder, Chairwomen and CEO of Prodea systems, and journalist Shekhar Gupta. In the session titled as “Evening with Legends” the pioneers of social entrepreneurship shared their story and experiences with the crowd and encouraged the young people to follow their dreams and create a new world worth their living.
