Professor Yunus addresses Conference of Top Business Leaders of Canada

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus was a keynote speaker at the C2 MTL a leading business and creativity conference held annually in the city of Montreal in Quebec. He challenged the audience of 3,500 business people to try to take individual action to change the world, and to define a clear destination to do that. He urged business leaders to devote themselves in creating a new civilization based on human values of caring and sharing moving out of the present civilization based on greed.

During a special session on social business at the C2 conference, Professor Yunus  was introduced to the audience by Bardish Chagger, Minister of Commerce and Small Business and Tourism, who at 35 is one of the youngest cabinet ministers on Prime MInister Trudeaus' team. During the conference, Professor Yunus also held a courtesy meeting with the Premier of Quebec Mr Philippe Couillard who reaffirmed his support for growing social business in Quebec.

During his three day stay in Montreal, Professor Yunus also visited HEC Montreal a leading business school in the city to address an audience of 250 faculty, students and alumni of the school about social business to tackle social issues. HEC Montreal has launched a global social business competition with 100 students from 16 countries participating which will run till September 2016 when the winner of the competition will be chosen.  He addressed the students via video conference earlier in the day who asked questions to him on how to design and implement effective social businesses. He also held a meeting with the Dean of the Business school and his team to discuss next steps of setting up a social business centre within the university.
