Rabbit farming for community development

Rabbit is a fast reproducing primate. It is considered as prolific breeder with an average gestation of 3 months. It produces fleash which contain less amount of fat and cholesterol but high amount of protein. Rearing rabbits is easier in village context. Rabbit can be reared on grass, vegetables, household vegetable wastage. Little medication is required for the wellness of rabbit. Village women can rear rabbit besides their household chores as a part of income generating activaties which also ensure some additional income to run their family well. There is no religious restriction to eat rabbit meat and it is benificial for health. Rabbit meat canbe exported as well. So, rearing rabbit could be a great income generating activities for rural household women in the country context of Bangladesh.
